An important question – is Hospice a place?

When families reach out to Amen Hospice, they are often looking for information about how hospice care works. Sometimes they have questions about how we at Amen Hospice can help them or their loved ones and how the process may develop. Over time, we have received a variety of questions.

One interesting question that speaks to the heart of hospice is if hospice is a place. Well, we can answer that in a variety of ways. We have an office location for administrative work, located at 415 Woodline Dr., Suite 1A, Spring, TX 77386. I do not think that is what many families are looking for when they ask, though. Their intention in asking is where will my family member receive care?

Through our conversation today on the blog, we will unpack a bit more about what hospice is. Hopefully, through this conversation, you will be able to answer your true question of where your loved one's care will take place.

To start the conversation, hospice is a philosophy of care. Here at Amen Hospice, we provide a special kind of care and support for persons in the last phases of a life-limiting illness so that they may live as comfortably as possible. Hospice care focuses on controlling the patient's pain and other physical symptoms of their illness while providing emotional and spiritual support for both the patient and their family. Hospice helps patients and families with end-of-life decision making, meeting life goals, enhancing family relationships, and promoting comfort.

Since it is a philosophy of care, we can provide hospice care anywhere. Your Amen Hospice team will work alongside you to determine the best location and plan of care for you or your loved one. This conversation will depend on the needs of the patient and their family. In future blog posts, we will discuss the four levels of care, which will provide more information about locations and type of care offered through hospice.

There are a lot of questions you or your loved ones may have while facing a life-limiting illness. You have a team of professionals here at Amen Hospice who would be honored to support you and your family during this time. If you have any questions about the services we offer, you can reach out to us at 832-415-1605 or find more information on our website here at www.amenhospice.org.
